01 — The Problem

A font setting is not a wordmark.

Right now, ALVEON is Outfit ExtraBold with 0.1em tracking. That is a placeholder. A wordmark needs intentional kerning, considered weight, and a clear point of view about what the brand looks like when nothing else is there.

THE LETTERS
A-L-V-E-O-N has interesting geometry. The A and V are diagonal mirrors. The L bridges them with a right angle. The E and O bring curves. The N closes with stability. The AV pair is the critical kerning challenge — two diagonals that either click or create a hole.
THE CHALLENGE
The wordmark must work at 9px (favicon) and 900px (signage). It must be legible on product labels at 4mm height. It must feel like engineering, not fashion. And it must stand alone — no symbol required — as the primary brand identifier.
02 — Six Directions

Weight, tracking, character.

Same typeface, six different personalities. Each direction makes a different claim about what Alveon is. Click to select.

ALVEON
ALVEON
A
Clean Geometric
The current direction, refined. ExtraBold at generous tracking. Confident, open, systematic. Reads as "engineering company" more than "sports brand." The wide spacing gives each letter room to breathe.

ALVEON
B
Tight Precision
Minimal tracking. The letters lock together like components in a system. More aggressive, more compressed energy. Reads as "performance tool." The AV pair nests tightly — the diagonal geometry becomes a feature, not a gap to manage.

ALVEON
C
Extended Breath
Ultra-wide tracking, lighter weight. The letters float. Each one is an individual — fitting for a brand about individual fit. Reads as "luxury precision" or "architecture studio." Elegant but risks feeling cold or detached.

ALVEON
D
Heavy Block
Maximum weight, larger scale, moderate tracking. The wordmark is a physical object. It has mass. It takes up space like a piece of equipment. Reads as "industrial" and "built." This is a brand that makes things.

ALVEON
ALVEON
E
Light Authority
Medium weight, generous tracking. Quiet confidence. Doesn't shout. Reads as "we don't need to prove anything." This is the Aesop, Bottega Veneta approach — authority through restraint. Risk: could feel too passive for a startup.

F
Mixed Weight
The A and N in Regular, the core LVEO in ExtraBold. The framing letters are lighter, creating a visual bracket. This is the most "designed" option — it has a concept built in. The risk: it's a trick, and tricks age faster than systems.

03 — Kerning Pairs

The critical pairs.

Five letter pairs that make or break the wordmark. The AV diagonal is the signature challenge. Default kerning creates a visual hole between diagonal strokes.

SELECTED DIRECTION APPLIED AT 120PX CUSTOM KERNING REQUIRED FOR FINAL WORDMARK
AV
CRITICAL
Diagonal mirrors. Needs negative kern to close the optical gap.
AL
MEDIUM
Diagonal meets vertical. Usually OK in geometric sans.
LV
CRITICAL
Vertical meets diagonal. The L-bar creates whitespace above.
EO
MEDIUM
Straight meets round. Needs slight tightening.
ON
LOW
Round meets vertical. Generally well-spaced by default.
04 — Size Scale

From product label to trade show.

The wordmark must work at every scale. Below: the selected direction rendered at key sizes. Watch for legibility loss at small sizes and structural weaknesses at large scales.

05 — Icon / Favicon

The A at smallest scale.

The "A" from ALVEON becomes the icon and favicon. Four treatments of the same letter. The icon must work at 16×16px (favicon), 60×60px (app), and 120×120px (social).

A
Pure Letter
White A on black. Maximum simplicity. The letterform does all the work. No container, no embellishment.
A
Letter + Signal
White A with an Ember dot. The crossbar area of the A becomes a scan point. Connects to measurement/precision.
A
Contained
A in a thin square container. Reads as "scan area" or "measurement zone." More structured, more technical. Risk: generic.
A
Ember Ground
White A on Ember. Bold, identifiable, high contrast. The signal color carries the identity. Works well as app icon.

06 — Lockups

Wordmark + tagline configurations.

The primary lockup is wordmark only. The secondary lockup adds "Engineered for One" in JetBrains Mono. These are the only two approved configurations.

CLEAR SPACE RULE
← 1× cap height →
ALVEON
Minimum clear space around the wordmark equals the cap height of the "A" at its rendered size. No other elements, text, or edges may enter this zone. This rule applies at all sizes.
WHAT WE CAN DO HERE
Choose direction, weight, tracking. Test at all scales. Define lockup rules, clear space, and icon derivation. This gets us 80% of the way.
WHAT NEEDS A TYPE DESIGNER
Custom kerning table. Optical adjustments to individual letterforms. Potential custom cuts of specific letters (the A crossbar, the V angle). Converting to outlined vector format.
RECOMMENDATION
Lock the direction now. Use the Outfit-based setting as working wordmark for all current materials. Commission custom lettering when seed funding allows — the direction won't change, only the craft level.
